The Morris Leslie Group is a £70m turnover group, headquartered in Perthshire and comprising various divisions including commercial plant hire, plant sales, property investment and auctions.

Due to a rapid expansion of the business, a vacancy has arisen for a Project Manager who will be responsible for overseeing and project managing all operational tasks in connection with the construction and/or renovation of all industrial, residential and airside sites associated with the Property Division of the Morris Leslie Group. Predominately situated at Perth Airport at Scone with travel requirements within Tayside, the Project Manager will work in close collaboration with the site foreman and trade team. The position will be responsible for acting as Principle Contractor overseeing all property assigned building projects, ensuring health and safety compliance and a high level of productivity and quality of output.

Main Duties:

  • Overseeing and project managing the maintenance and construction and/or renovation of all appointed sites
  • Undertake the role of Principle Contractor overseeing concept to completion of medium to large building projects
  • Prepare and implement site specific project management plans to ensure site activities remain on track and comply with Group Health & Safety
  • Liaise with the group leadership team including the Head of Property for input and to ensure they are kept up to date with projects in line with the delivery plan/schedule
  • Ensure projects are delivered in line with the initial drawings and specifications
  • To coordinate the procurement of materials, plant and equipment
  • To work effectively with external suppliers to deliver outcomes and produce detailed information/reports on supplier services and performance against agreed SLA’s as required
  • Monitor and report on project progress
  • Check quality and quantity of incoming deliveries in relation to projects and ensure all paperwork is maintained
  • Working with business leaders to determine needs and fulfill requirements
  • Ensure the site/projects/teams complies with all company policies and procedures

Requirement:

  • Previous Project Management experience of over 5 years’ delivering projects on time and to budget
  • Proven experience of leading and contracting with a construction site environment
  • Experience of delivering end to end projects with a strong practical ability to deliver
  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
  • A Strong character who has the ability to adapt in changing environments
  • Detail focused and organised with the ability to prioritise workload and assign tasks
  • Experience of working in a Health & Safety conscious environment
  • Technical and practical knowledge of development and construction
  • Sound knowledge and insight of the construction industry, technical matters, such as the different procurement routes and contract forms
  • Comfortable with the use of IT systems for the preparation of role related paperwork
  • The ability to work under own initiative and delegate with clear instruction for teams
  • Possess good decision making and cost management skills
  • Demonstrate experience of stakeholder influence and management
  • Technical understanding of project elements, land, leases, construction, pre-contract and post contract matters

The position is primarily based at Perth Airport with expected travel between local sites for which a driving license is essential
