Austin Healey 3000 MKII in Blue

A Beautiful Day to Buy a Beautiful Classic

Over a thousand buyers, sellers and visitors flocked to Morris Leslie’s Classic Car and Machinery auction on Saturday the 23rd May, the sun was shining and the cars were gleaming. Morris Leslie’s biggest auction to date and the launch of their all new, state of the art Auction Hall and Offices drew in the crowds.

Over 100 vintage tractors and more than 200 classic cars went under the hammer with some very enthusiastic bidders fighting over some truly beautiful classic cars. Many a lot became a nail biter as to who would be the highest bidder for that much sought after classic. With full online bidding it was anyone’s call as to who would secure their dream vehicle.

The featured car of the auction, a fully restored Mercedes Benz 220 Cabriolet A, an early first series, one of only 997 ever made between 1951 and 1955, created quite a buzz, as its price rose higher and higher the atmosphere was electric as online bidders fought it out to secure this fabulous piece of motoring history. The hammer fell at an amazing £85,000 and someone out there has secured themselves an absolutely stunning classic.

Other lots causing a stir included a 1956 Mercedes Benz 190SL, which landed a very nice £52,000 and the 1963 Austin Healey 3000 MKII which brought in a tidy sum of £40,500.

One of the vintage tractors up for auction was a 1959 Massey Harris Type 820 Pony which formerly belonged to His Majesty Frederik 9th of Denmark, when this sold someone took home a real piece of history.

There was so much to see, whether tractors or cars, vans or motorcycles, there really was something for everyone.
